Renee Good's Family Initiates Separate Probe, Says Attorney

The relatives of Renee Good, who was tragically killed in Minneapolis last week, are stricken with deep sorrow over the incident, yet they find strength in unity despite differing political views, according to their lawyer, Antonio Romanucci.

Romanucci highlighted their solidarity: "Their bond is strong. Each member of this family is exceptional," he commented.

A Personal Loss and Public Misunderstandings

Good was a dedicated family woman, cherished by her loved ones as a mother, daughter, and devoted partner, also actively involved in the PTA and an animal enthusiast.

Romanucci reflected on her untimely death, describing it as "a heart-wrenching loss" and unexpectedly tragic.

Despite statements from figures like President Trump and officials within the Trump administration portraying Good as a threat, Romanucci stresses that the family is deeply pained by these narratives, asserting their enduring image of Renee is love-centered.

Launching an Independent Review

Romanucci conveyed to CBS News that the family is determined to conduct their own investigation into the circumstances of the shooting, apart from state or federal efforts.

"We refuse to accept one-sided scrutiny. Such matters demand various perspectives for anyone, including citizens and authorities," stated Romanucci, emphasizing the importance of truth and cooperation.

Given their quest for transparency and justice, the family plans to independently compile evidence and hopes for collaboration from others committed to uncovering the whole story.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension originally took charge but relinquished its role following a directive dispute. Additional pressure builds as multiple Justice Department prosecutors resign for lacking a civil rights inquiry.

Potential Legal Actions and Federal Reactions

When queried about potential lawsuits against the involved officer, Romanucci hinted that legal avenues remain open and emphasized their challenging nature amidst prevailing legal precedents.

The Department of Homeland Security's stance that Good meant to use her vehicle aggressively is contested by witness accounts and situational analysis, underscoring Romanucci’s assertion against DHS claims.

If her actions constituted minor traffic violations, Romanucci questions if lethal force was justified under such circumstances.

Reacting to the federal decision to amplify immigration enforcement in Minneapolis post-shooting, Romanucci juxtaposed the drastic action against Good's character, whom he extolled as outstanding.
