Over 500 Million Ticket Requests Flood FIFA for 2026 World Cup
FIFA has announced a remarkable surge in ticket requests for the 2026 World Cup. The prestigious soccer tournament is set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Global Demand for Tickets
The soccer body's leaders have indicated that, aside from the host nations, nations like Germany, England, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, and Colombia have shown significant interest in the event. This unprecedented demand highlights the sport's global allure.
Ticket Pricing and Adjustments
While prices for the tickets can soar up to $8,680 each, FIFA has responded to past criticisms by offering more affordable alternatives. They are providing $60 tickets to each of the 48 national teams, which will then allocate them to fans of their choosing, particularly those who have loyally supported them in earlier games.
Most In-Demand Matches
Among the games that have garnered the most attention is the face-off between Colombia and Portugal, scheduled for June 27 in Miami Gardens, Florida. Not far behind is the enticing match between Mexico and South Korea, set for June 18 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The final match, planned for July 19 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, also sees significant interest, alongside the opening game featuring Mexico and South Africa on June 11 in Mexico City, and a round-of-16 confrontation on July 2 in Toronto.
Allocation of Tickets
FIFA aims to inform applicants of their ticket statuses beginning February 5. In cases where demand surpasses the available seats, ticket distribution will be conducted randomly.
Host Cities Across North America
The tournament will be played in 16 cities across North America, with U.S. venues including major locations like Houston, Kansas City, and Seattle.
Games from the quarterfinal stage onward will primarily take place in the United States, adding to the significance of this cross-border collaboration in hosting the World Cup.
