Animal Crossing: New Horizons Expansion Released Sooner Than Anticipated

Considering the events of early 2020, few would wish to return to that time. However, during those days, a beacon of happiness emerged through Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which offered a virtual gathering space for friends who couldn't meet in person.

Though the game's popularity has waned since its peak, Nintendo is banking on the recent downloadable content to reengage a number of old players. This new content became available on January 14, ahead of its scheduled release. Meanwhile, the Switch 2 update launched as planned on January 15.

New Features and Enhancements

The complimentary 3.0 update is now ready for download, ushering in a variety of enhancements to this beloved life simulation. Notably, a fresh resort hotel has been added at the pier, providing players with the opportunity to indulge in interior decoration.

Additionally, this update introduces new items and improvements aimed at enhancing user experience. Players can now explore community island-building projects with loved ones in the 'Slumber Island' dream realm.

Switch 2 Edition Highlights

Previously announced updates for New Horizons on the Switch 2 went live on January 15. This edition boasts enhanced graphics, added mouse control, GameChat features, and a larger multiplayer capacity of up to 12 participants. Current users can upgrade for a nominal fee of $5, whereas newcomers can purchase this version for $65.

The latest Switch 2 edition is available, echoing the rollout of the 3.0 update.
