Slovakia Anticipates US Nuclear Alliance Could Lead to Westinghouse Partnership

Slovakia is set to finalize a nuclear cooperation pact with the United States this coming Friday. This agreement is expected to lay the groundwork for a subsequent power plant contract involving Westinghouse Electric Co. by next year, according to statements made by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.

The government of Slovakia is aiming to construct a new 1,200-megawatt nuclear reactor. Officials have expressed willingness to grant the substantial €15 billion (approximately $17.5 billion) contract directly to an American company, potentially bypassing the standard public bidding process.

The prospect of Westinghouse's involvement in this initiative has reportedly received the endorsement of US President Donald Trump, further bolstering the collaboration's feasibility.
