Experiencing Delta's First Class: 10 Unexpected Discoveries

Traveling from New York City to West Palm Beach, Florida, in October 2025, I embarked on my first adventure in Delta's first-class cabin. Upgrading from a $350 economy ticket to a premium seat for an additional $150, I was keen to see what the extra cost entailed.

A Speedy Start at the Airport

To my surprise, my premium ticket allowed expedited passage through security thanks to Delta's Sky Priority service. This fast track, ideal for Medallion Members and first-class flyers, was available at JFK Airport. Despite having TSA PreCheck, I appreciated the convenience offered to those without it.

Welcome Aboard with Immediate Refreshments

Boarding early allowed me to explore the first-class cabin, where each seat was outfitted with a personal mini water bottle. Flight attendants promptly collected drink orders, although I, caught off guard, declined another beverage.

Unexpected Storage Solutions

Besides enjoying larger seating, I discovered hidden storage compartments. Personal items like my camera and headphones nested neatly within, a luxury not found in economy.

A Double View

The added legroom meant increased distance between seats, which translated to the pleasure of having two windows for more views, a fantastic feature for flight enthusiasts.

Unseen Ports and Tables

Unlike economy setups, the power ports and audio jacks in first class were ingeniously incorporated above the armrest. The tray table, larger and unfolded from the armrest, differed from the traditional setups.

An Unexpected Feast in the Air

Despite anticipating a simple breakfast, the meal options were extensive. I indulged in a potato and bacon frittata, complete with sides like maple-glazed bacon, spinach, and cherry tomatoes, along with yogurt and a croissant for added delight.

Lavish Amenities in a Compact Space

The first-class bathroom mirrored those in economy yet differentiated itself with premium Grown Alchemist skincare products, offered solely to first-class passengers.

The Journey Begins with Boarding

Travel in first class altered my perspective on starting a vacation, transforming the flight itself into a prelude of leisure and luxury.
