In light of increasing global researcher mobility, France announced it seeks to become a welcoming hub in Europe, leveraging its robust research framework and capabilities.

French President Emmanuel Macron, through a LinkedIn update, highlighted the importance of scientific research, urging global researchers to consider France as their preferred location within Europe.

Yann LeCun, Meta's chief AI scientist and a native of France, praised the initiative as 'astute.'

LeCun has been vocal about his disapproval of the Trump administration's reduction of support for public research. Recently, he posted that the US seems intent on dismantling its research funding system, forcing many American scientists to seek alternatives.

He advised European nations to capitalize on the opportunity to recruit leading global researchers.

LeCun is not alone in his critique; former Google CEO Eric Schmidt also condemned the Trump administration's stance on science and education. Schmidt described the administration's actions as a comprehensive assault on American science.

At the AI+Biotechnology Summit, Schmidt acknowledged that some professionals were considering relocating to London due to the unfavorable environment in the US.
