Biden's Student Debt Relief Surpasses $183 Billion with New Forgiveness Plan

As he approaches the end of his presidency, President Joe Biden has declared a new initiative to cancel student debts for over 150,000 individuals.

This latest amnesty benefits nearly 85,000 former students from institutions accused of deceptive practices, 61,000 recipients categorized with total and permanent disabilities, and over 6,100 public sector workers, as detailed by Biden in an official release.

Biden remarked, "On my first day in office, I vowed to make higher education a stepping stone to middle-class prosperity, rather than an obstacle. I am proud to announce that our administration has cleared more student debt than any other in history."

Since President Biden assumed office, more than 5 million federal student loan recipients have benefited from this debt relief program, culminating in $183.6 billion in collective loan forgiveness.
