Jay-Z Set to Request Dismissal of Rape Lawsuit Allegedly Based on False Claims

A woman who has alleged that Jay-Z sexually assaulted her as a young teenager in 2000 recently admitted in an NBC interview that there are discrepancies in her narrative, yet she affirms her accusation.

Defense Cites Inconsistencies in the Accusation

Attorneys representing Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, are slated to petition a judge to dismiss a legal case accusing him of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2000. The defense points to what they claim are 'obvious discrepancies' found during an NBC interview with the complainant, who remains unnamed in the lawsuit.

The suit, initiated last week, claims that Jay-Z and Sean Combs attended a party at a private residence after the MTV Video Music Awards in Manhattan in 2000, where the alleged assault took place. Jay-Z has categorically rejected these allegations.

Accuser's Statements Questioned

During the NBC interview, the woman acknowledged inconsistencies in her account, yet insisted that her accusation remains valid.

The accuser's report mentioned that following the incident, she contacted her father to pick her up from a gas station. However, NBC noted that her father, who lives several hours away in upstate New York, does not recall making such a trip that night.

Residing now in Alabama, the accuser also informed NBC that she engaged in conversation with Benji Madden from Good Charlotte during the post-award party. Nonetheless, Madden, who was not implicated in the accusations, was reportedly on a tour across the Midwest during that time.

Legal Response

Alex Spiro, an attorney for Jay-Z, wrote a letter addressed to Judge Analisa Torres of the U.S. District Court, indicating that they plan to request the dismissal of the lawsuit, referring to the NBC interview as evidence. He stated, 'The interview reveals the plaintiff's story for what it is: a fabrication.'
