Conor McGregor Accusation: Woman Found with Significant Bruises, Court Hears
A woman has brought a lawsuit in Ireland, accusing the famous mixed martial arts star of rape, and was reportedly found with significant bruising right after the reported incident, as a paramedic testified in the Dublin High Court.
The accuser, identified as Nikita Hand, alleges McGregor attacked her in a hotel's room in Dublin back in December 2018.
McGregor, known as a flamboyant former world champion and one of the top-earning sports figures worldwide, has denied all accusations against him.
During a court session, paramedic Eithne Scully shared that she had never witnessed such severe bruising as she observed on Hand, who had injuries on areas including her chin and upper body, as reported by network partners.
The court was shown video footage capturing Hand's injuries as she was being attended by Scully.
Hearings in the civil court case commenced the previous week, and due to Ireland's legal framework, neither plaintiff nor defendant enjoy anonymity in civil proceedings.
Previous Legal Actions
According to state broadcaster RTÉ, Hand previously sought criminal charges against McGregor in 2020, but prosecutors chose not to proceed, citing insufficient prospects for securing a conviction.
In recent testimony, Hand recounted attending a festive event at a Dublin hotel in 2018, during which she partook in both alcohol and cocaine along with McGregor, as covered by RTÉ. She alleges McGregor forcibly restrained her in a hotel suite, leading to breathing difficulties.
She explained that in defense, she bit McGregor, who then allegedly choked her multiple times, making her fear for her life and her family.
To survive, Hand stated she permitted McGregor to assault her sexually, adhering to her testimony according to RTÉ.
Defense Accusations and Cross-Examination
During cross-examination, McGregor's defense accused Hand of fabricating narratives as part of an extortion scheme.
Defense attorney Remy Farrell questioned Hand regarding allegations she had informed her boyfriend that McGregor threatened her life—details she purportedly omitted in official statements to law enforcement.
When pressed about her claims of threats by McGregor, Hand could not confidently recall the claims made to her then-boyfriend.
Other Allegations
McGregor has also been involved in additional legal troubles in the United States, including a dismissed case related to an incident at an NBA event in 2023 where a woman alleged forced sexual advances.
The fighter has faced previous criminal allegations in the past within the United States, further contributing to his controversial reputation.
