Trump to Appoint N.Y. Rep. Elise Stefanik as U.S. Envoy to the U.N.

President-elect Donald Trump has selected New York Representative Elise Stefanik to assume the position of United States Ambassador to the United Nations.

Following the announcement shared with the New York Post on Sunday evening, Stefanik expressed her eagerness to take up this prestigious role.

"It is a great privilege to be nominated by President Trump for the Cabinet role of U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Elise is known for her robust and resolute advocacy for American interests," Trump conveyed in his statement.

Elise Stefanik corroborated her nomination acceptance also via a statement to the press.

"Being nominated by the President to occupy this Cabinet position as Ambassador to the U.N. is a deep honor," Stefanik stated. "I have openly discussed with President Trump regarding my sincere gratitude and my anticipation of garnering Senate validation for this role."

The appointment is contingent upon Senate approval.

As a fervent supporter of Trump and ranking fourth amongst House Republicans, Stefanik is poised to fill the shoes of Nikki Haley from the prior Trump era.

Haley, previously the Governor of South Carolina, pursued the GOP presidential candidacy in the recent elections, ultimately casting her endorsement for Trump. Although there were plans for her to assist in his campaign, they did not materialize.

Stefanik also participated in the high-profile Trump rally held at Madison Square Garden towards the end of October.
