U.S. Seizes Another Venezuelan Oil Tanker

In an operation carried out early Thursday morning, U.S. forces have taken control of another oil tanker associated with Venezuela, marking the sixth such seizure. This action was announced by the U.S. Southern Command.

The incident forms part of a broader initiative to enforce a blockade on oil tankers under sanctions that are traveling to and from Venezuela.

According to the U.S. Southern Command, personnel from Joint Task Force Southern Spear, including Marines and Sailors, embarked from the USS Gerald R. Ford. They intercepted and secured the Motor/Tanker, named Veronica, without encountering any resistance.

The statement highlighted that Veronica represents yet another vessel contravening President Trump's enforced blockade of restricted ships in the Caribbean, further validating the success of Operation Southern Spear.

The Command emphasized that the oil departing Venezuela will henceforth be rigorously managed and in accordance with lawful procedures.

This development arrives just before President Trump is scheduled to convene with María Corina Machado, a prominent figure of the Venezuelan opposition, at the White House.

Reported initially by Reuters, this seizure underscores ongoing measures directed at curbing unlawful activities related to the Western Hemisphere's energy resources.
