Justice Department Contacts Rep. Jason Crow Over Controversial Video

Democratic Representative Jason Crow from Colorado has been reached out to by the Justice Department following his involvement in a controversial video. The recording, shared with other lawmakers, advises U.S. military personnel to reject illegal commands.

The inquiry was initiated by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Columbia, under Jeanine Pirro’s leadership, who seeks to interview Crow. This inquiry seems to be part of the Trump administration's broader campaign challenging Democrats.

In a public statement, Crow expressed that former President Donald Trump has called for his arrest and extreme penalties simply for articulating positions unfavorable to Trump. Crow maintains his opposition to intimidation tactics, asserting his commitment to the Constitution and national defense.

Once an Army Ranger, Crow has accused the Trump administration of manipulating the Justice Department to suppress political adversaries and silence dissenting voices. He emphasized this sentiment while addressing journalists on Capitol Hill, reinforcing that Congress members must remain steadfast in upholding their legal duties without fear of presidential threats.

The brief 90-second recording targeted individuals in military and intelligence roles, advocating the rejection of unlawful directives. President Trump condemned the video's message, labeling it as 'seditious behavior,' which he claimed is punishable by extreme measures.

Furthermore, the House and Senate's security officials are also seeking discussions with Crow and his fellow lawmakers involved in the production of the video. This includes Senators Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, Mark Kelly of Arizona, and Representatives Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania, Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire, and Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania.

Elissa Slotkin, who organized the video, has faced additional scrutiny. She criticized these actions by the Trump administration as a predictable tactic involving neglection of truth and facts, turning government machinery against dissenters.

The Pentagon has separately targeted Mark Kelly, with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announcing possible repercussions on his military retirement status, which might lead to reduced ranks and lowered benefits. Alongside this, Kelly has been formally censured for alleged recklessness.

Mark Kelly countered with a lawsuit against Secretary Hegseth and the Defense Department. This legal action aims to prevent any alterations to his retirement benefits, citing retaliation infringing upon his rights to free speech.
