HP's OmniBook Boasts an Impressive 45-Hour Battery at CES

As CES winds down, HP's fresh announcements remain at the forefront of my mind. The information shared was extensive, but I'll zero in on HP's most captivating computer news.

HP's entire OmniBook series has been revitalized, featuring Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X2 chip and OLED screens on every model. The Snapdragon X2 aims to deliver superior performance, even exceeding Apple's M4 chip.

When Qualcomm introduced this chip, it stood as a formidable opponent against the M4, promising to achieve long-lasting battery endurance. Early benchmark results impressed, showing the X2 significantly surpassing the Apple processor.

Elevating the OmniBook Lineup

With such improvements, HP's next OmniBook could potentially set a new standard, challenging leading Apple laptops. The combination of high-performance capabilities, OLED display vibrancy, and a mere 2.8-pound structure creates formidable competition.

One standout debut is HP's OmniBook Ultra 14. This high-end consumer laptop showcases a 3K OLED screen and is powered by either the next-gen Snapdragon X2 Elite or Intel's Panther Lake processor.

According to HP, the 2026 OmniBook Ultra 14 is redesigned to be 5% more slender, weighing just 2.81 pounds. It also boasts advanced connectivity options, including three Thunderbolt 4 ports, 8K external monitor support, and up to 64GB RAM.

While the Ultra 14 dazzles, the entire OmniBook X line benefits from OLED screens. This upgrade extends to both the 14- and 16-inch configurations, including the 'Flip' 2-in-1 versions.

The lineup is structured into four primary sectors: starting with the basic OmniBook 3 series, escalating to the OmniBook 5 and 7 lines, and culminating in the premium OmniBook X collection.

Of particular interest is the 16-inch OmniBook 3, which HP claims can sustain a 45-hour charge. While this might seem overly optimistic, having tested a device that lasted 25 hours back in August, the claim feels plausible but merits verification.

Coming out later this month, the OmniBook Ultra 14 will start at $1,550. Following in February, the OmniBook 3 and 5 series will launch with prices from $500 and $850.

HP plans to drop the OmniBook 7 and X models as spring approaches, with pricing details to be disclosed closer to their launch date.
