As a Nutritional Expert, I Can't Get Enough of This Air-Fried Broccoli That Mimics Potato Chips!
Being a certified nutritionist often leaves people surprised that I have a penchant for savory, crunchy snacks.
I absolutely love preparing crispy foods with my air fryer, and my all-time favorite is broccoli — the first time I made this dish, I couldn't help but exclaim to my friends that it was like indulging in potato chips!
A Simple Recipe with Minimal Ingredients
To create crispy delights, I chop up broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, or sweet potatoes into small, manageable sizes. I find these vegetables, especially broccoli, are ideal for this method because they achieve a perfect crunch without losing their inherent flavor.
For achieving maximum crispiness, I advise slicing the veggies into smaller pieces. Another trick is to include individual Brussels sprout leaves for an ultra-crunchy treat.
My go-to approach involves using about two cups of diced veggies, a light drizzle of olive oil, and a pinch of salt.
I mix all the ingredients in a bowl, ensuring every piece is well-coated, and then arrange them in a neat single layer in the air fryer basket. Cooking them at 350°F for 20 minutes works perfectly.
To amp up the flavor profile, consider sprinkling them with garlic or onion powder, paprika, or some finely shredded Parmesan cheese. I also enjoy dipping my creations in a honey-cilantro sauce or a spicy chipotle aioli.
A quick tip: only air-fry what you can finish in one go. Once reheated, air-fried dishes lose their appeal, so it's best to make a fresh batch each time.
