Testing Infinix's AI Glasses at CES: Style Meets Technology with Swappable Frames

Exploring Infinix's Dual Approach to AI Eyewear

Infinix introduced two innovative AI eyewear models at CES: the camera-centric AI Glasses Pro and the audio-focused standard AI Glasses. Both models aim to function as smart, wearable companions that integrate seamlessly into daily life.

AI Glasses Pro: A Wearable Camera Experience

Infinix's AI Glasses Pro are tailored for users who value a built-in camera. Equipped with a high-definition wide-angle lens, these glasses offer quick media capture, aided by a dual-chip design that cleverly balances processing power and heat management when the camera is active.

With a weight of just 35 grams, these glasses are surprisingly lightweight. Users can interact with the glasses through a touch-sensitive area on the right side, enabling quick access to the digital assistant and sound control. A dedicated button beneath the arm is designated for straightforward photo and video capture.

Infinix equips these glasses with its Folax AI, a continuously active voice assistant that enables simple tasks with voice commands. This assistant uses open-air speakers for audio feedback and is touted to offer features like context recognition for items visible around the user.

The glasses boast impressive linguistic capabilities, potentially handling translations in up to 169 languages, a feature built upon Infinix's proven expertise in machine translation competitions.

The Pro variant also accommodates voice and call recording functionalities, with immediate transcription, making it easier to search through past conversations.

On the battery front, the glasses come with a robust case that can recharge the eyewear numerous times. A single cycle fills the battery within an hour, and the battery case itself, holding a 2500 mAh capacity, supports multiple charges.

AI Glasses: Stylish and Functional sans Camera

Unlike the Pro model, the standard AI Glasses shed the camera in favor of audio capabilities. Despite the absence of a camera, they still support real-time translation and can record conversations, all powered by an array of four microphones with built-in noise cancellation.

A noteworthy feature of these glasses is their style adaptability; they include three interchangeable frame designs, two of which offer UV400 lens protection. The arms of the glasses, containing all computing essentials, can be swapped out with ease.

While demonstrating the swapping mechanism, the frames felt secure, though snug fits may pose challenges to frequent users. Nonetheless, the design's innovativeness and potential utility was clear.

Charging occurs via pogo pins at the arm tips, utilizing a proprietary wired system. The arms feature indicators to denote charge status through various colors.

Infinix plans to release these AI Glasses globally within the year, with pricing strategies differing by location.
