Introducing In-Chat Purchases with Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft is enhancing its Copilot AI chatbot with an innovative feature that enables users to make purchases without exiting the chat interface.
Imagine asking Copilot for advice on purchasing running shoes. The AI will not only offer suggestions but now can also open a transaction interface directly within the app, allowing you to finalize your decision seamlessly.
A New Level of Shopping Convenience
A demonstration from Microsoft showcases an individual querying Copilot for a bedside lamp. The AI replies with a suitable option, accompanied by a 'Details' button for more intricate information and a 'Buy' button to streamline the purchase flow.
By selecting the 'Buy' button, users can proceed to a built-in checkout page, where entering shipping and payment information completes the transaction efficiently without the need to visit a separate retailer site.
Following Industry Trends
This integration is reminiscent of similar services offered by OpenAI through ChatGPT and marks a significant shift toward AI-assisted shopping experiences. Other tech giants like Google are also exploring this area with their AI Mode initiatives.
Collaborations and Availability
Currently, this feature is being introduced to Copilot users in the United States. It supports in-app purchases with selected partners such as Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Ashley Furniture, and certain sellers on Etsy.
Essential payment processing for these transactions is facilitated through prominent service providers like PayPal, Stripe, and Shopify, ensuring secure and reliable payment options.
