Charge Your Power Stations at Lightning Speed with Bluetti's Car Charger

Bluetti has introduced an innovative car charger capable of recharging power stations at an impressive speed of 1200 watts, significantly outperforming the standard 12V cigarette lighter outlet. Aptly named Charger 2, this device can also reverse charge, allowing it to either jump-start your vehicle or sustain its starter battery when used alongside a Bluetti power station such as the Apex300.

Considering my energy consumption while traveling in a van across Europe, I use about 1.6 kilowatt-hours daily from power stations. Under ideal conditions, which are rare, driving for roughly 75 minutes with the Charger 2 would restore a full day's worth of energy.

Tapping into both the alternator's additional capacity of up to 800W and up to 400W from rooftop solar panels, the DC-DC charger achieves its peak charging rate of 1200W. While stationary, it can provide up to 600W of solar energy to connected power stations without depleting the vehicle's starter battery.

Installation Insights

Setting up the Charger 2 can be manageable as a DIY task, requiring you to route wires through the vehicle's interior and connect to the starter battery. Expanding the system with additional solar panels or Bluetti's DC Hub for powering accessories like lighting or a refrigerator complicates installation.

Bluetti assures that the Charger 2 is compatible with 95% of existing power stations on the market. Nevertheless, the reverse charging feature is reserved for use with Bluetti's own power stations. Other brands such as DJI, Jackery, and EcoFlow also manufacture alternator chargers, which tend to perform best with their respective product lines.

Currently on offer for a promotional price at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the Charger 2's price will eventually increase to $599 after February 7th. Bluetti's first, less advanced, alternator charger debuted at a cost of $399, often discounted when bundled with power stations. The new Charger 2 can reuse the existing cabling from its predecessor, making it an easy upgrade for existing users, who can avail a $99 upgrade offer valid for three days.
