Lenovo’s Revolutionary Rollable Gaming Laptop
Lenovo is innovating once again with their experimental laptop designs for CES 2026. The standout is the Legion Pro Rollable, a gaming laptop featuring a horizontally expanding OLED screen.
This display transitions from a standard 16-inch size with a 16:10 ratio to a massive 24-inch width. This expansion surpasses even the oversize 21-inch gaming machine previously made by Acer.
Advanced Technology
Modeled on the Legion Pro 7i, this concept laptop will be equipped with Intel's cutting-edge Core Ultra processor alongside Nvidia’s premier RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. Details on memory and internal storage have yet to be disclosed.
Potential Applications
Lenovo envisions esports players utilizing this versatile machine, which can adjust its screen size for different modes of use — from 'Focus Mode' at 16 inches, through 'Tactical Mode' at 21.5 inches, to 'Arena Mode' at the full 24 inches. This flexibility could also appeal to users valuing large displays without the hassle of additional hardware.
Though Lenovo has a reputation for turning visionary prototypes into real products, this contraption excited me when I experienced its prototype. However, it was very much in the early stages of development. The mechanism was noisy, and the screen was not yet smoothly operational.
The Future of Displays
This concept, despite its rough edges, hints at the potential for future monitor designs — maybe a desktop display that begins as a 27-inch 16:10 screen and expands dramatically to 34 inches or more.
While the current model has some hurdles to overcome, such as consistent resolution across different sizes, the excitement it spurs is a testament to its promise as a game-changer in laptop design.
