TP-Link Introduces Aireal AI for Smarter Homes and Networking
At this year's CES, TP-Link is making waves with the introduction of Aireal, their cutting-edge AI assistant, which will be a new feature in their smart home ecosystem.
Aireal's Capabilities
Tapo, a sub-brand of TP-Link dedicated to intelligent home systems, now incorporates Aireal. This AI assistant is engineered to facilitate a more intuitive interaction with technology, aiming to enhance users' understanding of their homes, swiftly resolve Wi-Fi issues, and manage devices using ordinary spoken language.
Embedded within the Tapo and Deco applications, Aireal enables the setup of smart home routines through voice commands. Users can describe desired actions for their devices, such as instructing a vacuum to commence cleaning once the house is empty. Additionally, troubleshooting assistance is available for inquiries like resolving connectivity problems of offline devices.
Enhancing Security Features
An exciting aspect of Aireal is its integration with Tapo security cameras. This AI promises to deliver detailed, textual descriptions of events captured by these cameras, moving beyond basic alert notifications like 'pet detected.' It also consolidates similar alerts to minimize unnecessary notifications and allows users to locate video recordings with simple queries, such as 'Show the delivery from yesterday.'
For the first time, Tapo cameras will feature facial recognition capabilities, thanks to Aireal. Users can opt to receive identity-specific alerts when a known face is detected by the camera. All facial recognition data is securely encrypted and saved to the cloud.
Availability and Pricing
On January 6, an early access version of Aireal will be released on select devices. This includes Tapo’s latest CES-presented security models, like the solar-powered Tapo C645D Kit, the 4K Tapo C465, and the 2K Tapo C710 floodlight camera. The wider rollout in the United States is planned for later this year. Although a subscription will be required to utilize Aireal, pricing details have yet to be finalized.
