Asus Revamps ROG Zephyrus Duo with True Dual Screens
Introducing a bold new look for the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo, showcased at CES 2026: both displays now extend seamlessly edge-to-edge, akin to a gaming-optimized Zenbook Duo. Previously known for its unconventional layout featuring a key-forward design and a secondary narrow touchscreen, the Zephyrus Duo has evolved dramatically. Now, enjoy the grandeur of two expansive 16-inch 3K OLED HDR screens, each boasting a remarkable 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,100 nits of peak brightness. Additionally, a wireless and detachable keyboard/trackpad option allows for flexible interaction.
Designed to cater to gaming enthusiasts, this powerful dual-display laptop is equipped with Intel’s next-gen Panther Lake processors and Nvidia's upcoming RTX 50-series GPUs, potentially including the top-tier RTX 5090 model. While official pricing details remain under wraps, anticipate its release between mid to late Q2 of 2026.
Distinctive Features and Versatility
The innovative Zephyrus Duo is akin to a paired-up Zephyrus G16, albeit thicker at 0.77 inches (19.6mm) and weighing 6.28 pounds (2.85kg). Its detachable keyboard enhances versatility, supporting configurations such as dual-tier or side-by-side screen use, tent mode, stand mode, or traditional laptop layout. Connectivity options are expansive, mirroring the G16's repository, including HDMI 2.1, USB-C/Thunderbolt 4, USB-A, along with a full-size SD card reader.
During an early preview, I was mesmerized by what the new Zephyrus Duo promises to offer. Known for its blend of portability and power, the ROG Zephyrus line is already a traveler’s delight, and now with an additional display, it amplifies work and play capabilities significantly. You can envisage running multiple applications simultaneously, such as gaming on one display while managing tasks on another.
Refreshing the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16
Aside from the dual-screen delight, the more conventional single-screen Zephyrus G14 and G16 models are also receiving noteworthy upgrades. These include Intel's Panther Lake chipsets and the same Nvidia RTX 50-series GPU options. Their aesthetic updates feature enhanced lid lighting with now 35 LED segments capable of indicating battery levels. Display advancements include factory-calibrated OLED screens with HDR support, reaching up to 1,000 nits, offering incredible visual quality.
Further improvements include hinges designed for ease of access and a revamped lower panel to boost cooling, promising better overall laptop performance. Specifically for photography professionals, the G14 now features a coveted full-size SD card slot. Both the refreshed G14 and G16, anticipated to launch within the same mid to late Q2 2026 window, finally incorporate Intel options in addition to the long-favored AMD choices.
