Experiencing the Samsung HW-QS90H Soundbar: Powerful Bass Without the Subwoofer

Thumping Sound at CES 2026: Samsung's Innovation

As is tradition, Samsung continues to update its audio technology annually at CES, and 2026 brings yet another advancement. This year, the spotlight shines on the HW-QS90H, a versatile soundbar that reportedly eliminates the need for a separate subwoofer, thanks to its innovative Quad Bass Woofer system. Equipped with a 7.1.2 audio channel setup and housing a total of 13 drivers, the QS90H claims a robust audio profile.

Upon my initial encounter with the QS90H, I was immediately struck by its deep bass capabilities. Typically, when brands pledge that their soundbars don't require subwoofers, the reality falls short. However, even amidst the bustling atmosphere of a busy demonstration area, the soundbar's built-in subwoofers delivered a noticeable bass punch. Especially for smaller living spaces, this soundbar's inbuilt woofers could suffice without needing additional equipment.

Samsung's engineering feat is powered by dual Quad woofers that uniquely expel air in two directions, enhancing the bass output. The integrity of sound clarity remains intact, with nine other drivers strategically placed to project audio from the front, sides, and upwards. These elements collaborate to provide the crisp, intricate sound quality Samsung is known for.

Design and Functionality: Convertible Fit Design

Adopting Samsung's Convertible Fit Design technology, which was first seen in the QS700F soundbar model, the QS90H offers flexible setup options. Whether you position the soundbar horizontally on a flat surface or vertically for wall mounting, built-in sensors adapt the audio output to ensure sound quality remains unaffected. In my evaluation, switching between positions did not compromise the sound performance, and visually, the exterior design shares similarities with the previous QS700F model with its grill patterns and controls.

Samsung has yet to disclose the pricing or release timeline for the QS90H soundbar, but these details are anticipated shortly before it becomes available for purchase.
