Lockin's Revolutionary Smart Lock at CES
Introducing the Cutting-Edge V7 Max Model
Smart locks often face a major issue: battery depletion. Lockin, known for its pioneering vein-recognition technology, has introduced its latest innovation on the CES stage. This model is uniquely recharged using a wireless optical infrared beam, effective up to four meters. A compact device, when plugged into a typical indoor outlet, emits this beam, which is captured by a receptor on the lock, converting light into energy, much like a miniature solar panel with a consistent light source. The technology is certified by two independent bodies, confirming no harm comes to eyes or bodies that might cross the beam's path—though any interruption will halt charging.
Advanced Features Beyond Standard Locks
This particular lock requires professional installation due to its mortise design, differing from a conventional deadbolt replacement. Its advanced features include video and sound capabilities, artificial intelligence, a touchscreen interface, and Lockin’s trademark vein recognition.
The external aesthetic is modern and impressive, featuring a sleek, elongated black shape with a convenient grip and a significant interior display. The front panel incorporates a touchscreen and dual cameras, enabling it to function as a video doorbell. The lock offers palm, finger vein, and 3D face recognition for entry.
Smart Home Integration and Unique Capabilities
Video feeds can be integrated with any leading smart home systems, such as those by Google, Apple, Amazon, and Samsung. However, for initial setup and accessing the enhanced AI features like package recognition and automated messaging for deliveries, Lockin’s specialized app is necessary.
The anticipation for this all-encompassing smart lock hints at a high price point, though current pricing has not been disclosed. Units are slated to start distribution by mid-summer. A more affordable variant, which includes the wireless charging feature but excludes video functions, will be available for $350 starting in April.
