Mui Board Integrates mmWave Technology for Sleep and Gestures
The Mui Board distinguishes itself in the realm of smart home devices by being elegant and understated. Unlike typical tech gadgets that boast vivid displays, this board is crafted from polished wood and emits a gentle glow when in use. As such, it's no surprise that Mui Lab recommends it as an ideal fit for bedrooms. If you’re considering installing this unique connected bar in your sleep space, wouldn’t it be advantageous if it could also monitor your sleep?
Mui Calm Sleep Platform: A Non-Intrusive Sleep Monitor
Mui Lab's innovative Calm Sleep Platform is designed for the second-generation Mui Board, incorporating millimeter-wave sensors to assess your sleep without the need for wearable devices like smartwatches, headbands, or even rings. By employing radar, it can track alterations in your posture and breathing patterns. This technology reportedly offers accuracy close to that of an EEG, though comprehensive testing and validation are still pending. Initially, the Mui Board will use external sensors from third parties, but a prototype with integrated sensors was recently showcased at CES.
Simplifying Sleep Without the Pressure
In contrast to turning sleep into a competition driven by metrics—which may increase anxiety for some—the Mui Calm Sleep Platform focuses on authentic relaxation. It does so by subtly adjusting the lighting environment and offering guided stretching routines to prepare you for rest. Furthermore, it aims to identify signs of fatigue or stress through vocal analysis and encourages additional downtime when needed.
A notable feature of the Mui Board Gen 2 is its capability for gesture-based control, enabled by additional mmWave sensors. This allows for intuitive interactions, such as silencing alarms with a wave. The rollout of support for mmWave technology enabling both sleep tracking and gesture controls is anticipated later this year, though an exact timeline remains unspecified.
