Transform Your Computer into a Super Nintendo with Epilogue's Latest USB Device
After over a year of anticipation, Epilogue's SN Operator is now set to open for preorders. This innovative device, much like the earlier released GB Operator, serves as a standalone USB cartridge reader. It allows you to both play and preserve your vintage Nintendo games on computers, whether they are PCs or Macs, and even on some portable devices like the Steam Deck.
Initially introduced for Game Boy titles, the SN Operator expands compatibility to include all Super Nintendo and Super Famicom cartridges. This means you can relive your childhood memories on modern devices.
Preorder and Price Details
Preorders for the SN Operator are scheduled to begin at noon ET on December 30th and will be priced at $59.99. Although this is $10 more than the GB Operator, the increase reflects broader functionality and enhanced features. Shipping is expected to commence in April 2026.
Functionality and Compatibility
The device connects to your computer via USB, and its capabilities are enhanced by Epilogue’s companion application. This app not only incorporates a built-in SNES emulator but is also compatible with other emulators if you have a preference. Fans of old-school games will appreciate that the app simulates gadgets like the Nintendo Super NES Mouse and the Super Scope, allowing you to substitute these with your PC mouse.
Preservation Function
The SN Operator appeals not just to gamers wanting to play, but also to collectors looking to preserve their libraries. It authenticates cartridges, ensuring the authenticity of your titles, including those rare finds. Additionally, it supports creating digital backups of your games, safeguarding your progress even if the physical cartridges deteriorate over time. Note that Epilogue emphasizes responsible use, advising you to back up only the games you legally own.
