Leveraging AI to Evade Vehicle Towing

A Tesla owner recently found himself in an amusing and quintessentially futuristic scenario, utilizing the car's Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities. This high-tech feature, heavily reliant on artificial intelligence and computer vision, proved to be a game-changer.

The couple had parked overnight in a restricted loading area, believing it would be safe from towing on a Sunday, as assured by the driver's spouse. However, from their vantage point on the fifth floor, they noticed a security officer beginning the process of trying to tow their Tesla.

In a moment of panic, the owner was about to rush downstairs, shoeless, when his wife suggested, "WAIT — just use the summon feature!"

Sitting comfortably at the breakfast table, he accessed the Tesla app, activated the Summon feature, and watched the vehicle come to life. It elegantly exited the loading zone and made its way to the entrance of their building just as the owner arrived to get in the car.

The security guard, taken aback, inquired if it was akin to the autonomous vehicles developed by Waymo, prompting an impromptu tutorial on the FSD system.

This incident not only saved the owner approximately $400 and spared him an inconvenient trip to recover the vehicle but also solidified his opinion of the FSD as his most advantageous investment yet.
