Steam and Valve's Online Game Services Disrupted

Outage Impacts Digital Game Access and Online Functionality

Users trying to access Steam have encountered a disruption that is preventing them from entering the game store and participating in online gaming activities. Although Valve has not issued any official statement regarding the interruption, the SteamDB's unofficial Steam Status page indicates that the Steam Store, Steam Community, and Steam Web APIs are currently not operational.

At approximately 1:15 PM ET, DownDetector recorded over 6,000 reports of downtime, and users have also been unable to access Steam via Valve's mobile applications. This problem seems to be affecting several of Valve's online game services, such as Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike 2.

The previous significant service disruption occurred in October, rendering the store and online services non-operational for roughly an hour. Earlier, in September, the simultaneous rush for downloading Hollow Knight: Silksong led to temporary outages not only for Steam but also for the Xbox Store and Nintendo’s eShop.
