The Five Leading Ways AI is Being Utilized in Workplaces Today

An increasing number of U.S. workers are integrating artificial intelligence into their job routines, and they're employing it in diverse manners.

Based on the latest survey conducted by Gallup about AI usage at workplaces in the third quarter of 2025, 23% of American employees engage with AI at least weekly, while 45% incorporate it a few times within a year.

This signifies a substantial rise from the second quarter of 2024 when merely 12% reported weekly usage and 27% confirmed using AI several times annually.

Moreover, the daily use of AI among employees has also escalated, climbing from 4% in mid-2024 to 10% by late 2025.

The survey further asked those who have embraced AI about the specific tasks they apply it to. Here are the top five applications:

A significant 42% of users employ AI for collating information or managing data efficiently.

41% of respondents indicate using AI as a tool for idea generation.

36% of users leverage AI for acquiring new knowledge.

AI assists 34% of the workforce in automating routine tasks.

Lastly, 20% utilize AI to pinpoint potential issues.

A majority, at 61%, of AI-using workers employ chatbots such as ChatGPT or Claude. Meanwhile, 36% use AI-driven writing and editing applications, with 14% taking advantage of AI coding support.

Growing Pains and Trust in AI

As AI becomes prevalent, some concerns emerge, especially amidst the youth. A Harvard Youth Poll indicates that 59% of young adults aged 18 to 29 perceive AI as a threat to their employment opportunities, despite the majority expressing confidence in AI's ability to aid academic and work-related objectives.

Interesting contrasts emerge in Gallup's June findings, showing corporate leaders engage with AI more frequently compared to regular employees.
