Kindle App Introduces New Feature for Book Queries
Amazon has recently unveiled an innovative addition to its Kindle app, designed to provide answers to readers' questions about books, while keeping spoilers at bay.
Ask this Book: The Intelligent Reading Assistant
Dubbed 'Ask this Book,' this tool acts as an advanced reading aide, deftly handling inquiries about storyline specifics, character connections, and thematic content. It ensures a spoiler-free experience by adhering strictly to the sections of the book you've already read. The feature functions like an integrated chatbot, which can be engaged through the book menu or by selecting any snippet of text within your purchase.
Non-Opt-Out Functionality
A representative from Amazon, Ale Iraheta, clarified that the responses generated by this feature are non-transferable and cannot be duplicated. These insights are exclusively accessible to purchasers or renters of the book, without an opt-out provision for authors or publishers.
Current Availability and Future Expansion
This functionality is currently available for thousands of English books in the United States via iOS devices. Amazon plans to extend support to Kindle hardware and Android apps in the coming year. However, there is no detailed schedule for further geographic or linguistic expansion beyond the US.
