Amazon Prime Video Discontinues AI-Generated Recaps After Errors in Fallout Summary
Amazon Prime Video has halted its AI-driven series recaps following inaccuracies noticed in the Fallout synopsis. The feature, which was under trial, has been temporarily removed from various shows, such as Fallout, The Rig, Jack Ryan, Upload, and Bosch.
AI Missteps in Video Summaries
The AI tool was designed to highlight significant events in a show and present them in a concise video format, which includes an AI narration and scenes from the series. However, a notable error in the recapitulation of Fallout's first season mistakenly placed a character’s memories in the 1950s instead of the accurate year, 2077.
Adding to these errors, the automated recap misleadingly narrated that The Ghoul presented Lucy MacLean with a simplistic choice to 'either die or accompany him' on a mission to locate her father. In reality, her decision was more intricate, as her options included joining The Ghoul or staying behind, risking potential peril from The Brotherhood of Steel.
Current Status and Response
Initially appearing on the detail page for viewers advancing to the subsequent season of supported series, these AI recaps are now absent. An inquiry was made to Prime Video for further clarification, yet no response was promptly received.
