My Journey Into a Company Embracing AI
Embarking on my role at Mighty Bear Games, a forward-thinking gaming company requiring AI integration since 2022, was initially overwhelming given my creative, non-technical background. However, nearly two years since starting in March 2024, I have wholeheartedly embraced AI both professionally and personally, using it for everything from automating news feeds to sorting out billing tasks and even organizing personal events.
The AI mandate, expecting half of our output to be AI-generated, propelled me to innovate methods to minimize tedious tasks, thus freeing up time for more creative endeavors. While my initial career aspirations leaned toward acting—spending years in theater and film—COVID-19 pivoted my focus toward learning about digital spaces like cryptocurrency and NFTs, which ultimately led me to explore cryptogaming.
My path intersected with Simon Davis from Mighty Bear Games, thanks to a shared network. Impressed by their AI-enhanced gaming solutions, including games playable on platforms like Telegram, I was drawn into the role of head of growth, with objectives around user acquisition and enhancing marketing strategies.
Discovering AI tools before the widespread release of solutions like ChatGPT felt revolutionary to me. Joining a company dedicated to AI was simultaneously exhilarating and intimidating, especially given my prior failed attempts at coding. Yet, guided by colleagues like Simon, my initial apprehension shifted to curiosity as I began exploring tools like Lindy.
Embracing AI to Streamline Repetitive Tasks
Automating mundane tasks was a game changer for me. For example, using Lindy's AI agents, I eliminated monotonous monthly tasks like reporting and invoicing, allowing me to dedicate more focus to market analysis through social media platforms like TikTok. An automated daily news summary aggregator also saves me significant time, delivering concise updates on industry-related trends.
Additionally, my team developed a 'sentiment scraper' to better understand public perception of Telegram as an app, beyond its primary chat function. This scraper compiles data from TikTok, organizing it into Google Sheets for easy analysis, bypassing the need for manual assessment and allowing us to prioritize innovative projects.
Acknowledging AI's Limitations
While AI tools are an asset, they're not without their flaws. Instances of 'hallucination' and the prevailing fear of AI replacing jobs—potentially mine included—prompt caution. Yet, I'm optimistic, understanding that expert industry knowledge remains irreplaceable.
Using AI as a secondary tool rather than the primary source fosters better outcomes. For instance, I employ AI for refining blog drafts, ensuring my unique writing voice is retained. Beyond work, AI suggests stock trading tips and plans engaging, alcohol-free dates, enriching both professional and personal spaces.
Thanks to AI, I have more freedom to delve into innovative pursuits and explore numerous AI tools, despite failed attempts reminding me of the technology's boundaries. It's essential to tailor AI outputs to personal authenticity, but ultimately, this leads to newfound creative freedom.
