Zelenskyy's Urgent Call for Lifting Long-Range Weapons Restrictions

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine has urged Western nations to remove limitations on long-range armaments, enabling his military to potentially launch preemptive strikes against North Korean forces stationed within Russian bounds.

In a statement made on Telegram, Zelenskyy revealed that Ukraine possesses knowledge of 'every location' where Russian activities include the assembly of North Korean troops on its soil.

Zelenskyy emphasized, "If granted the capability, we could conduct preemptive strikes utilizing long-range weaponry. This action hinges on our allies."

He criticized the inaction, saying, "Instead of deploying the essential long-range strikes, America, Britain, and Germany are merely observing as North Korean forces are poised to target Ukrainians."

The Ukrainian leader has persistently petitioned Western allies to allow deployment of these strategic weapons on Russian territories.

Reports indicate that while the UK and France have been supportive of such tactical operations, the United States and Germany exhibit caution, fearing escalation with President Vladimir Putin of Russia.

Impending Troop Movements

U.S. officials recently disclosed that approximately 8,000 North Korean troops have positioned themselves in Kursk, a frontline region in Russia, with expectations of their engagement in the conflict against Ukraine imminently.

During a press briefing, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin remarked on the anticipation of these troops entering combat against Ukrainian forces soon. He noted that Russian military training had equipped North Korean soldiers in artillery and drone operations, along with basic infantry instruction.

Austin asserted that if North Korean troops undertake combat roles or support operations against Ukraine, they will be treated as 'legitimate military targets.'

Escalating North Korean Threats

Concerns rise globally as North Korea announced their latest ballistic missile test, reportedly achieving unprecedented flight duration and reach, with the international community observing from the sidelines.

Facilitated by Moscow, North Korea continues to refine its artillery and missile technology while adopting contemporary warfare techniques.

The intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), codenamed 'Hwasongpho-19' by North Korean state media KCNA, launched recently, covering over 1,000 kilometers (approximately 620 miles) in about 86 minutes before it descended into the Sea of Japan.

Experts have informed Business Insider about the missile's significant size—approximately 92 feet long—potentially impacting its maneuverability in military conflicts.

Reacting to the missile test on social media platform X, Zelenskyy criticized global passivity, commenting that as North Korea’s threat escalates, 'the world merely watches.'
