Disney Treasure Assists Stranded Sailors Off Bermuda Coast

On an incredible mission of goodwill, the Disney Treasure, a vessel from the Disney Cruise Line fleet, came to the aid of four individuals aboard a troubled catamaran far from Bermuda's shores Sunday.

As reported by the U.S. Coast Guard's Air Station in Elizabeth City, the yacht, drifting approximately 265 miles from Bermuda, was taking on water when Disney's newest cruise ship stepped in for assistance.

The daring rescue was coordinated by the Coast Guard, who identified that the Disney Treasure was the nearest vessel capable of offering help to the 50-foot catamaran. A lifeboat was efficiently launched to transfer all four occupants from the skittish Serenity to safety.

Remarkably, this act of valor comes before the Disney Treasure embarks on any commercial voyages. Currently en route from the Netherlands to its future departure point in Port Canaveral, Florida, the ship had to alter its course around 11:40 a.m., eventually reaching the catamaran by 1 p.m.

Crew's Expertise in Action

Captain Marco Nogara of the Disney Treasure expressed gratitude for the ship's capability to assist, highlighting the crew's adept response to the emergency. In a statement released by Disney Cruise Line, he emphasized the collective effort and training of the crew that ensured the successful rescue operation.

The Disney Treasure, capable of hosting 1,256 guests in its state-of-the-art staterooms, is slated to embark on its premier seven-night cruise through the Eastern Caribbean departing from Port Canaveral on December 21, according to WKMG.

Looking Forward

Amidst the adventurous undertaking, this incident has showcased the readiness and humanitarian spirit of the crew aboard the Disney Treasure, already living up to its name by safeguarding lives at sea.
