Located within a couple of hours from New York City, Plattekill Mountain in the Catskills offers a more subdued skiing experience away from the bustling crowds of its more renowned neighbors.

This smaller ski venue provides a quiet retreat with limited lifts and fewer basic trails, which tend to keep novices at bay.

Crossing Borders: Enjoy Mont Sutton's Canadian Charm

Many from New York and New England might travel to Canada for renowned resorts such as Mont-Tremblant, yet Mont Sutton in Quebec's Eastern Townships offers peaceful forested trails and nine chairlifts across 60 tracks.

Conveniently, the border crossing through Vermont is usually quiet, making Sutton accessible for a relaxing day trip.

With several neighboring ski spots to attract visitors, Sutton never feels overcrowded.
