IO Interactive Revises PC Specs After Community Feedback

PC Requirements Adjusted for James Bond Game

IO Interactive recently attracted attention with its PC specification announcement for 007 First Light. Initially, players were told to expect hardware demands including 32GB of RAM and a graphics processor with 12GB of VRAM to enjoy 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second in the new James Bond game. However, after receiving community feedback about inconsistencies, the studio has made adjustments.

The discrepancies stemmed from an outdated listing being mistakenly distributed due to an internal communication error. Originally, they included the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti in the recommended GPU category, despite it only featuring 8GB of VRAM — clearly not aligning with the VRAM initially suggested.

Reevaluation and Revised Specifications

Considering the delay of over a week and the ensuing backlash, some found it curious that it took IOI significant time to remedy the inconsistency—especially with the substantial 32GB RAM requirement for standard 1080p, 60 fps gameplay in question.

Following thorough analysis and further testing, the studio has downsized the graphics memory requirement from 12GB to 8GB and reduced the necessary RAM to 16GB. They've also modified the minimal processor requirements, keeping the Intel Core i5 9500K, but updating the general CPU recommendations.

Updated Minimum and Recommended System Requirements

To achieve 1080p at 30 fps, you'll need at least:

Processor: Intel Core i5 9500 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500

Memory: 16GB RAM

Video RAM: 6GB

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, AMD RX 5700, or comparable Intel option

To target 1080p at 60 fps, you'll require:

Processor: Intel Core i5 13500 or AMD Ryzen 5 7600

Memory: 16GB RAM

Video RAM: 8GB

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, AMD RX 6700 XT, or similar Intel GPU

Operating System and Storage Needs

The required OS is a 64-bit edition of Windows 10 or 11 for both minimal and recommended setups, with an 80GB hard drive allocation.

Recognizing the mix-up, IO Interactive regretted any confusion it might have caused and pledged to release further insights about 007 First Light leading up to its launch on May 27. With evolving market conditions around RAM and GPU costs, gamers hope additional resolutions like 1440p or 4K won’t demand unreasonable upgrades.
