Verizon Outage Disrupts Services Nationwide

Widespread Reports of Connectivity Issues
According to Downdetector, which tracks real-time status of online services, user reports of Verizon problems started appearing around Monday noon. These reports surged to nearly 180,000 within 40 minutes.
Reports predominantly originated from the eastern part of the United States. However, significant issues were also noted in cities like Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, San Francisco, and Portland, Oregon.
City Alerts in Response to Ongoing Outages
The Emergency Management Department in New York communicated that they are collaborating closely with partners at the Office of Technology and Innovation, as well as other utility services, to evaluate any potential impacts on essential municipal services.
Meanwhile, the agency in Washington, D.C., characterized the disruptions as affecting the entire nation.
According to a post by the Office of Unified Communications, 'There is a wide-ranging Verizon disruption impacting some individuals attempting to call 911. In the event of an emergency, if an individual cannot connect via their Verizon device, they should use another carrier, a landline, or head to the nearest police or fire station.'
