Amazon Unveils the New Face of Kratos for Live-Action
In an unexpected reveal, Amazon has cast Ryan Hurst as Kratos in its upcoming live-action adaptation of God of War for Prime Video. Hurst, known for portraying Opie in 'Sons of Anarchy' and Beta in 'The Walking Dead,' steps into the shoes of the iconic character.
Fans eagerly anticipating Christopher Judge, the revered voice behind Kratos in the video game series, may find themselves slightly disheartened. Despite this, Ryan Hurst brings his own rich background to the role, having voiced Thor in the God of War: Ragnarok game, a performance that earned him a BAFTA nomination.
Developing Cinematic Worlds
Initially announced in 2022, the God of War series is a product of Amazon's collaboration with PlayStation Productions. This adaptation aims to faithfully translate the narrative arc of Kratos and his son Atreus, as depicted in the latest game installments, onto the screen.
The series is part of a broader trend, with Amazon and Sony actively investing in transforming popular video game franchises into live-action adventures.
