Dina Powell McCormick's Significant Role in Meta's Future
Following Mark Zuckerberg's announcement that former board member Dina Powell McCormick has officially joined Meta as president and vice chairman, he provided insights into her responsibilities at the tech giant. McCormick is set to have a crucial part in directing Meta's extensive infrastructure initiatives, now branded under Meta Compute.
Zuckerberg mentioned that over the next decade, Meta plans to develop infrastructure capacity in the tens of gigawatts, expanding to hundreds or more in the future. He emphasized the importance of engineering, investing, and forging partnerships to establish this infrastructure as a significant competitive edge.
Leadership and Strategic Growth Under Meta Compute
He highlighted that Santosh Janardhan, head of global engineering, will oversee this key initiative. Additionally, Daniel Gross, the erstwhile CEO of Safe Superintelligence, will spearhead a new unit tasked with long-range planning involving capacity strategy, partnerships with suppliers, industry evaluation, and business strategy development.
McCormick will also focus on collaborating with governmental bodies and sovereign entities to construct, deploy, invest in, and finance Meta's infrastructural endeavors.
Massive Investments Aim at AI Superintelligence
Meta's commitment to infrastructure is a pivotal aspect of its ambition to advance AI superintelligence. Recently, the company signed three major agreements to acquire significant nuclear energy resources intended to power its data centers. Zuckerberg has previously projected that Meta will allocate $600 billion towards AI infrastructure and job creation by 2028.
