U-Haul Truck Involved in Incident at Los Angeles Protest Against Iranian Regime

During a demonstration denouncing the Iranian regime in Los Angeles' Westwood area, a moving truck was implicated in an incident, allegedly driving into a gathered assembly of protesters, resulting in injuries to at least two individuals on Sunday afternoon.

The protest was organized to commence at 2 p.m. in front of the Wilshire Federal Building, located on the 11000 block of Wilshire Boulevard. The event drew thousands rallying in support of the protests erupting across Iran, with numerous activists in the United States highlighting the resultant violence from these demonstrations.

The moving truck entered the crowd's vicinity near the intersection of Veteran Avenue and Ohio Avenue, approximately a block away from the Federal Building, slightly before 3:30 p.m., as reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Emergency personnel reported that two individuals were attended to at the location, yet they declined the offer for hospital transport. Fire crews were also searching for another possible casualty; however, no further injuries were later confirmed.

Despite the lack of official arrest announcements, footage circulated on social media showed Los Angeles Police Department officers apprehending the truck's driver, who was then secured and removed from the scene amidst visible agitation from some crowd members.

Law enforcement communicated to local news outlet CBS LA that the truck's driver, whose identity remains undisclosed, was undergoing questioning.

By 4:30 p.m., the majority of participants had vacated the protest area, consistent with the event's planned conclusion at 4 p.m. Throughout the rally, demonstrators voiced chants such as 'Free Iran' and 'End the regime,' while others prominently displayed an expansive Iranian flag spanning nearly an entire block.

Aerial views from SkyCal captured the final location of the truck, encircled by a significant perimeter of crime scene tape. Police investigators could be observed assessing the crime scene, with the truck's cargo section revealed to be empty. The windshield bore the damage of a shatter, with glistening glass fragments scattered across the pavement.
