Exploring the Potential of Keychron’s First Trackball: The Nape Pro

During CES, Keychron introduced impressive mechanical keyboards, but the Nape Pro trackball emerged as the real star. This is the inaugural trackball from Keychron, featuring a sleek design that offers versatility on your workspace.

The Nape Pro can be positioned on either side of your keyboard like a classic trackball. Alternatively, you can place it directly in front to maneuver the cursor without taking your hands off the keyboard.

This mode of operation is akin to a large Lenovo TrackPoint, commonly seen on ThinkPad laptops, yet it finds use on standalone keyboards as well. With the Nape Pro, you can manipulate the cursor, adjust its rotary control, or activate any of its six customizable buttons without altering your hand's position.

Keychron's Vision for the Nape Pro

Paul Tan, a co-founder of Keychron, mentioned that the Nape Pro would soon be available in Japan through a crowdfunding campaign. In the U.S., it is expected to debut during the spring, with a price ranging from $60 to $100, depending on import fees.

I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival. I envision using it beneath my keyboard or off to the side, complementing a conventional mouse setup. The flexibility it offers is intriguing and practical.
