Created through a collaboration between Hyperkin and GameSir, the X5 Alteron is a new type of wireless controller that attaches to devices. Inspired by the GameSir G8 Plus released in 2024, its adaptive telescopic feature lets it grip onto a variety of gadgets, including smartphones, tablets, and certain Nintendo Switch consoles, effectively replacing traditional Joy-Cons.

Users can interchange key components on the front of the controller to suit their gaming style, offering a range of buttons, joysticks, and layout options. Though specifics on availability, pricing, and module distribution remain unannounced, the controller promises several configurations tailored to diverse gaming needs.

Gamers can select between symmetrical or asymmetrical thumbstick arrangements and even relocate action buttons to their preference. The D-pad's design and feel are also customizable, enabling personalization unlike any other. For enthusiasts of classic gaming, modules are available that mimic N64 and GameCube controllers, delivering an authentic retro experience for Nintendo Switch Online's legacy games. Additionally, a trackpad module option exists, emulating a mouse for enhanced versatility.
