Philips Hue's 'SpatialAware' Revolutionizes Room Lighting Coordination

New Features and Smart Home Integrations Unveiled at CES 2026

At CES 2026, Philips Hue has unveiled an innovative feature, SpatialAware, which promises to synchronize lighting throughout a room. This exclusive feature for the Hue Bridge Pro considers each light's position and fine-tunes the colors for a more cohesive look. For instance, if choosing a sunset ambiance, the lights on one side of your room may glow with soft yellow hues similar to a setting sun, while the ceiling lights opposite will produce deeper tones, as stated by Philips on their blog. Scheduled for release in spring 2026, SpatialAware aims to enhance the way we experience lighting.

Using SpatialAware is straightforward. By scanning the room with a smartphone, augmented reality is employed to establish the precise location of every light source. An intelligent algorithm then ensures all light points are in sync. As you add new lights post-setup, the system naturally integrates them. You can then engage SpatialAware by selecting scenes such as "Lake Mist" to set the desired mood.

As demonstrated by Philips, the feature brings an end to chaotic mixes of colorful lighting, crafting a perfectly harmonized space. It also considers the orientation of products for seamless gradient color shifts.

In addition to SpatialAware, Philips introduced several enhancements. Users can now consolidate multiple Hue Bridges into a single Bridge Pro during installation. Additionally, the Hue Secure Camera, Hue Secure video doorbell, and Hue contact sensors are slated for compatibility with Apple Home. This integration allows you to watch live feeds with a picture-in-picture feature on Apple TV and receive immediate notifications through the Apple Home app.

Philips also upgraded the Hue AI assistant. It now supports automations driven by natural language, enabling commands like "set a wake-up call for 6:45 AM daily except Wednesdays." Expanding the assistant's reach, new languages—Dutch, German, and Spanish—have been added. Automations will now appear directly within their respective rooms and zones in the Hue app, streamlining user experience. These improvements are expected to roll out in the first quarter of 2026.
