In a move to enhance its smart home offerings, Ikea has extended Matter support to a selection of its home decor pieces, commencing with the introduction of two revamped lighting fixtures at CES 2026.

One of the highlights is the reimagined Varmblixt donut lamp, now featuring an updated design while adding color-changing abilities to its portfolio of smart home functionalities. Meanwhile, the newly-launched Varmblixt pendant lamp offers adjustable warmth settings for its white LED illumination.

Varmblixt Donut Lamp: A Softer Glow

The original edition of the Varmblixt donut lamp was characterized by its glossy exterior, crafted to bounce off ambient light within a space. In contrast, the latest smart variant boasts a muted, matte white surface, enhancing the aesthetic of its own internal illumination.

Equipped with a wireless controller, users can seamlessly transition the lamp's glow through 12 curated hues, handpicked by Sabine Marcelis, the creative mind behind the lamp's inception.

Connection to the Ikea Home Smart app via the Dirigera hub unlocks an impressive palette of 40 different color settings, alongside options to modify brightness levels. The smart donut lamp, though showcased, will see an official release in April 2026 at a price point of $99.99.

Varmblixt Pendant Lamp: From Cool to Warm

With a price tag of $149.99, the smart version of the Varmblixt pendant lamp is set for an April 2026 debut. Similar to its donut-shaped counterpart, control is facilitated via an included Bilresa remote.

Rather than altering colors, this lamp allows users to switch between cool white light that mimics daylight and a warm, cozy glow reminiscent of candlelight. Furthermore, it can be synchronized with Ikea's mobile application, making it a part of broader smart home routines and automation systems.
