Quake's New Status: Steam Deck Verified
Classic Shooter Now Officially Tuned for Xbox ROG Ally
Today, Bethesda took to X, the popular social media platform, to reveal that Quake, the iconic 1996 game developed by id Software, has achieved Steam Deck Verified status. Additionally, this celebrated shooter has been updated to be Handheld Optimized for Xbox ROG Ally devices. Renowned as one of the original boomer shooters, Quake continues to enjoy a strong and dedicated fan base, and it is now universally accessible across nearly every available gaming system.
Since establishing its verification initiative, Valve has approved numerous games as compatible with the Steam Deck. In recent times, the company has been broadening efforts to ensure additional gaming hardware can operate with its SteamOS platform. Presently, Xbox ROG Ally stands alone, but a distinct extension of verification has been introduced to indicate when a game is broadly aligned with Steam's OS. With the anticipated release of Valve's Steam Machine expected early this year, it's likely that these verification marks will become increasingly significant by 2026.
