Chamberlain Introduces Revolutionary Smart Lock with Facial Recognition

Chamberlain has unveiled an innovative addition to its smart home technology portfolio—a multifunctional smart lock that also acts as a 2K HDR video doorbell. Announced at the CES 2026 event, the myQ Secure View 3-in-1 Smart Lock is priced at $279.99 and leverages face detection technology to manage your door's security automatically based on the identity of the approaching individual.

To achieve this functionality, residents need to upload their facial data via the myQ app. Once the setup is complete, the lock identifies recognized faces and unlocks the door as they approach. Conversely, if it detects an unfamiliar face, it immediately secures the home by locking the door and closing the garage. The lock is designed to function in conjunction with Chamberlain’s suite of products, like their garage door openers and additional accessories including the myQ Chime and the myQ Smart Garage Video Keypad.

Certain features of the device, including facial recognition capabilities and video storage for up to 30 days, require a $7.99 monthly subscription. Subscribers also gain access to customizing notifications and adjusting motion sensitivity settings, with alerts categorizing triggers such as visitors, vehicles, wildlife, or parcels. However, basic notifications are available without a subscription—they simply lack specific details.

Alternative Unlocking Methods

Beyond facial recognition, users can unlock this smart device using fingerprints, PIN codes, the myQ smartphone application, or a traditional key. It connects to Wi-Fi, and Chamberlain reports it can unlock within two seconds, supporting approximately six months of battery life under normal usage.

Compatibility with Smart Home Ecosystems

Nevertheless, the myQ Secure View Smart Lock does not support integration with major smart home ecosystems like Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant. Instead, it is compatible with subscription-based services such as Vivint, Ring, and Alarm.com.

Currently available for myQ subscribers, the general market release of the myQ Secure View 3-in-1 Smart Lock is set for January 13th, offering an exciting, high-tech option for household security management.
