Bosch Introduces a No-Cost Feature to Combat E-Bike Thefts

Starting at the end of January, those who steal e-bikes equipped with Bosch's motors will face significant challenges. With the introduction of Bosch's innovative digital theft deterrent, owners can flag their e-bike as stolen via the Bosch Flow app, all without additional costs. Previously, a similar security tool was launched for premium Bosch batteries; however, it necessitated a costly Flow Plus subscription.

Enhanced Anti-Theft Ecosystem

Upon marking an e-bike or its battery as stolen, it is immediately recognizable across Bosch's extensive eBike Systems network. This interconnected approach makes it exceedingly difficult for thieves to resell the stolen e-bike, enhancing the likelihood that the rightful owner will recover their property.

Notifications and Restrictions

If someone attempts to interact with a stolen e-bike via the Flow app, they'll receive an alert. Likewise, service centers using Bosch’s diagnostic tools will be warned if they connect to a flagged e-bike, preventing unauthorized service. Moreover, the stolen e-bikes cannot integrate with the app, receive updates, or allow users to change riding modes, significantly reducing their usability and desirability.
