Introduction of Lifx's New Smart Mirror and Affordable Dimmer Switch

Innovative lighting brand Lifx has unveiled its latest series of products, which include a Matter-compatible smart mirror, an in-wall dimmer switch, and an affordable selection of lightbulbs and strips starting at approximately $12.

Lifx made these announcements at CES, highlighting their plan to incorporate Matter-over-Thread support, enhancing their existing devices in conjunction with Wi-Fi by the end of this year.

The Lifx SuperColor Smart Mirror

This advanced mirror from Lifx is equipped with illumination both at the front and back, including dedicated settings for Makeup Check and Anti-Fog. Built with three customizable controls, this mirror allows management of various smart home technologies directly from its interface.

Specifically designed to integrate with Matter-compatible systems, it seamlessly connects to major platforms like Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, and Google Home.

Diverse Installation Options

Users have the flexibility to position the 36-by-22-inch mirror either in a horizontal or vertical orientation. This device can be set up through hardwiring or by simply plugging it in, and it features individually adjustable lighting on both sides, capable of displaying a range of colors.

Although pricing has yet to be finalized, the release is expected in the second quarter of 2026.

Introducing the $30 Lifx Smart Dimmer

Scheduled for release in the second quarter, this dimmer is designed for in-wall use with a sleek paddle style and includes four adaptable buttons plus a gradient light bar. Like Lifx’s other products, it is Matter-capable, offering user interactivity through a range of gestures for controlling Lifx or other smart setups.

This dimmer operates traditional bulbs like LED, incandescent, or halogen, as well as smart bulbs that are dimmable and Matter-compatible, making smart switches and dimmable lights easily interchangeable. Note: it requires a neutral wire and supports three-way configurations.

Economical Lighting Range

Following its leading competitors, Lifx has introduced a cost-effective range of lighting products named 'Everyday'. These maintain Lifx’s high standard in color accuracy while offering slightly reduced brightness in RGB compared to their premium variants, according to CTO Mark Hollands.

The line's inaugural product is the Everyday Bulb (A19), delivering up to 800 lumens with full-color configuration from 2,700 to 6,500 Kelvin. Available now, they are priced at $24 for two on leading sites and Lifx’s own website.

Additionally, the Everyday Lightstrip, featuring 24 interactive zones, will be on shelves soon for $39.99. The light strip’s controller includes a programmable panel capable of setting scenes on any system utilizing Matter.

Transitioning from Wi-Fi to Thread

Presently, both new and existing Lifx products operate on Matter via Wi-Fi; however, a forthcoming update promises to introduce Thread compatibility, thanks to the dual-protocol chip included.

Wi-Fi is commonly used for connectivity, whereas Thread is gaining traction. According to Mark Hollands, offering both options grants consumers the freedom to later upgrade to Thread if they require the extensive network mesh or need to minimize Wi-Fi interference.
