Introducing the Streamlined MSI Crosshair 16 Max HX

MSI has unveiled their latest entry in the gaming laptop market during CES, showcasing a model that's leaner in design but beefier in performance.

Enhanced Features in a Compact Form

This newest edition doesn't revolutionize its category, but it integrates updated specifications into a more compact form factor. According to MSI, the Crosshair 16 Max HX embraces a 14.3 percent reduction in thickness compared to its older version, achieving this by shaving off 2mm.

Despite the reduced size, the laptop packs powerful components, including the latest second-gen Intel Core Ultra 9 processor paired with the cutting-edge Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series GPU. Memory expansion is no issue with support for up to 128GB of DDR5 RAM. The laptop is equipped with a 16-inch OLED display boasting a crisp 2560 x 1600 resolution and a snappy 240Hz refresh rate.

Superior Performance Features

Another standout feature is the support for MSI's OverBoost Ultra, which gives users the option to enhance the GPU's performance up to 115 Watts, with an additional 85 Watts boost for the CPU (and up to 140 Watts when focusing solely on CPUs).

Design and Market Introduction

Maintaining an understated design approach, the Crosshair 16 Max HX largely sticks to minimalist styling, featuring some discrete RGB lighting on the keyboard, alongside an MSI badge and mecha-themed detailing on the lid.

Anticipated for release as early as April 2026, the Crosshair 16 Max HX will enter the market with a starting price point of $1,649.
