Unlocking Doors with Your Face: SwitchBot's Innovative Deadbolt
SwitchBot has introduced a groundbreaking advancement in smart lock technology with the Lock Vision series. Unlike its predecessors, this smart lock completely replaces your existing door lock rather than being mounted over it.
Unveiled at CES, the Lock Vision series is equipped with sophisticated 3D facial recognition technology, allowing users to unlock their doors nearly instantaneously after a quick facial scan.
Pioneering Installation Approach
For the first time, SwitchBot has designed a smart lock, the Lock Vision, that requires a full replacement of traditional door locks. This is a change from previous models, which were simply add-ons to existing locks. With Wi-Fi connectivity supporting Matter protocol, these locks seamlessly integrate with Apple Home, offering enhanced connectivity options.
Power and Versatility
A rechargeable battery within the Lock Vision can sustain operations for up to six months on a single charge. To ensure reliability, a backup battery is included, purported to last up to five years.
Diverse Unlocking Features
The series includes two models, though the pricing and availability remain undisclosed. Users can choose to unlock the base model through facial recognition, app commands, passcodes, NFC cards, geofenced automation, or even a traditional key.
The more advanced Lock Vision Pro also boasts fingerprint scanning and contactless palm-vein recognition, expanding the array of unlocking methods for users seeking additional security measures.
