Why I Abandoned AirTags: The Transition to a Tracker with a Five-Year Battery
Unveiling the Long-lasting Elevation Lab TimeCapsule
Those familiar with my tech preferences know about my enthusiasms for AirTags. These small locator tags have proven invaluable in preventing gear from being lost. They're attached to nearly everything I own, though their circular shape isn't the most versatile for attachment.
Elevation Lab, a company known for ingenious accessory solutions, has caught my attention. Whether you're seeking a means to connect an AirTag to your keys, wallet, or even pet's collar, they offer a diverse range of battery solutions.
Say Goodbye to Frequent Battery Replacements
A standout product from Elevation Lab is their innovative device that swaps the AirTag's modest CR2032 battery for two robust lithium AA batteries, significantly prolonging life from months to years.
However, the 10-year TimeCapsule's larger size, akin to a candy bar, is perfect for cars or luggage but not ideal for compact items.
Wishing for a more compact solution, I was pleased to discover that Elevation Lab now offers a TimeCapsule powered by smaller AAA batteries, fitting a five-year lifespan, perfect for more petite items.
Designed for Practicality and Durability
The assembly process is straightforward, requiring minimal effort. The unit is IP69 rated to resist water and dust. It comes with a convenient hex key and durable components including a sturdy gasket and secure fasteners ensuring everything stays in place.
Even though the AirTag's sound is slightly muted within the case, it's still functional enough to locate missing items effectively.
This improvement became especially critical when my backpack's AirTag battery suddenly expired, leaving my items vulnerable.
Elevate Your Tracking Experience
This product has been on my wish list for some time, and its price is attractive—available at $19.99, $29.99, and $39.99 depending on the model.
I've customized mine with some adhesive industrial Velcro for additional attachment options, though they're designed to be effective right out of the box.
