Introducing My New Favorite Phone Grip

Introducing My New Favorite Phone Grip

The OhSnap Snap Grip 5 has captured my attention.

Evolution of Magnetic Phone Grips

Back in 2022, we praised Anker's straightforward magnetic ring as the top MagSafe phone grip. Fast forward to today, and what's available has grown leaps and bounds! Now you can enjoy using two or even three linked magnetic rings to handle your iPhone, newer Pixel, or basically any smartphone you put a magnetic case or the provided mounting ring on.

However, the standout options for me have been the double-sided Syncwire Magnetic Phone Ring Holder, priced between $15 and $25, and more notably, the OhSnap Snap Grip 5 at $40.

Magnet Strength Matters

In contrast to the beloved Anker grip of yesteryears, these grips shine because of their bidirectional magnets. They eliminate the need for removal when docking on a MagSafe phone charger or car holder. Plus, they effortlessly attach to metallic surfaces like a fridge, cabinet, or gym equipment.

The highlight lies in their strong magnets. The OhSnap 5's magnets are potent enough to cling to my phone sans adhesive, yet the reverse side safely adheres to a car mount while remaining easy to disengage.

A Handy Comparison

As displayed in my videos, the Snap Grip functions uniquely: rather than threading a finger through a ring, you interlace your fingers between retractable arms attached to a disc. Remarkably flexible, it acts much like a PopSocket or can be transformed into a phone stand by slotting the disc into a designated groove.

The Syncwire, on the other hand, sports a traditional design with a smart ratcheting mechanism that minimizes scratches and doubles as a fun fidget device.

Considering the Cost

$40 may seem steep for a mere phone grip, especially considering past shortcomings in previous models. From broken parts to peeling coatings, each iteration has had its hiccup, with the latest facing its own coating issue. Yet, its slim design and light build make it less missable in the car compared to its bulkier Syncwire counterpart.

As someone who values bargains and enjoys fidget tools, the Syncwire still tempts me, but I'm seriously contemplating gifting a few Snap Grips as holiday presents!

Just to clarify, my phone case choice remains a frequent query.
